All long-stay visas in Thailand (longer than 90 days) require a notification of stay every 90 days of consecutive stay in the Kingdom. We know, nobody likes doing it, but it’s one of those things you simply can’t avoid if you want to live in Thailand as a foreigner on a long-stay visa.

If I travel outside of Thailand, when do I need to do a 90-day report?

If you travel out of Thailand, the 90 days countdown resets. Day 1 of the 90 day countdown begins the day you return to Thailand.

When exactly do I need to do a 90 day report?

The notification must be made to Immigration 7 days before your 90th day or up to 7 days after.

What happens if I forget to do a 90 day report?

If you forget to report within the window, then you should report as soon as possible. There will be a one-time fine of no more than THB5,000, plus THB200 for each day over 90 days (as of this writing in August 2024)*. If you are arrested in Thailand during this time and they discover you have not reported, then there will be a fine of THB5,000, plus THB200 for every day over the 90 days. It is best to report within the window.

How do I do a 90 day notification of stay report in Thailand?

There are 4 ways of reporting your address to Thai Immigration every 90 days. We list them in order of convenience.

  1. Do the 90 day report online: Apply for Notification of Stay in the Kingdom (instructions for using this system can be found here https://www.immigration.go.th/?page_id=1666)
  2. Mail your 90 day notification by registered mail. There are 3 addresses listed on the Immigration Bureau website for people residing in Bangkok. For people residing outside of Bangkok, the website says to check for your local official Immigration office.
  3. Hire an immigration agency, like VisaThai, to do the 90 day report for you. Drop off your passport in our Bangkok office (located in the center of Bangkok next to Phloen Chit BTS station) and pick up your passport the next day.
  4. Go to your local Immigration office yourself. In Bangkok the vast majority of people need to go to Chaengwattana. A few can go to the one-stop service at Chamchuri Square, mostly for BOI companies and government workers.

* As of this writing on August 3, 2024, the Immigration website says there will be a fine of THB2,000 plus THB200 per day over 90 days and if arrested there will be a fine of THB5,000. However, the latest notice stapled to a passport by Thai Immigration says only that there will be a fine not exceeding THB5,000 plus an additional THB200 per day over 90 days. Either way, we recommend you not miss the 90 day notification of stay.
